Three of us (Matthew, Charlie and Jason) hired 2 cars and, along with 6 other students from all over the world went and spent a weekend at a house in the mountains. These countries included Ecuador, France, Spain and Australia. We drove through the mountains to a small village and found our house for the night. When we arrived, there was snow on top of the mountains and some amazing views.

On the way there we stopped in a village near Infiesto and went for a walk to a religious worship point. This was a pilgrimage they would have done in ancient times to pay their respects to the Sanctuary of the Virgin of La Cueva (The Cave). The walk ended at a small chapel under a huge natural rock formation.

This was extremely interesting to be with people from all different cultures and talk about how society and religion are different in these places.

On the way back we stopped in a different village. This was where they make Cidra, which is an extremely popular alcoholic drink in the region. We explored the village briefly until the rain came on and we completed our journey back to the train station in Gijon where we had rented the cars from.
